NFT Onboarding for Traditional Artists/Creatives Workshops: New Dates Released! 💓
Damn, I really sent a post about ayahuasca, huh?
Well, well, well… hello there and welcome again to another episode of nfts (notes, feelings and thoughts) with amac. I really sent a long-form post about ayahuasca the other day, huh? 😳 I’ve been deeply touched by your notes and grateful for your shares. If you wrote me and I haven’t gotten back to you yet, I will soon. ❤️ I know many of you are here less for the nfts and more for the NFTs (non-fungible tokens) so here we go.
Excited to finally release two new dates for my popular, “NFT Onboarding for Traditional Artists and Creatives” workshop:
Wed 4/13 from 11a-12:30p PT — Register Here
Fri 4/15 from 8a-9:30a PT — Register Here
If you cannot make either session and would like a recording, please still register for one of the above and e-mail me and I will send you the recording after!
The 'NFT for Traditional Artists & Creatives' onboarding workshop is a donation-based ($20 suggested), online workshop intended to help those who want to get started creating and selling their first NFT collection. It is primarily designed for traditional/fine artists & creatives, i.e., artists (writers, and/or musicians) with an existing physical studio practice, but is also appropriate for brand people or curious collectors who want to understand how artists approach the space. In the workshop, I will help you understand the NFT space, create a NFT strategy that is reinforcing to your overall creative goals, and get started minting (creating) your first NFT.
The workshop is designed to be what I wish someone told me when I first got started over a year ago - explaining everything from crypto wallets to platforms, the different types of NFTs from 1/1s to PFPs, how to decide between platforms (Opensea, Foundation, etc.), examples of successful fine artists in the space, the importance of secondary sales and the dynamic it creates for collectors, and more. No prior knowledge is necessary - we will start from square one! But, the workshop is also fantastic for those who have already minted in the space but are having trouble getting traction.
I’ve run about 17 of these workshops with over 200 creatives attending. It has been a fantastic experience and a great way for creatives to also get to know other creatives new to the space. I’d love to have you or your friends join! Please share with whoever might be interested.
From Online Shops to Well-Known Museums
We’ve had everyone from gallery-represented artists to Etsy-focused sellers, oil painters to musicians to writers to neon-light-bending artists come through the workshop. Ultimately, the goal of the workshop is not to convince you to enter the space but to give you the information you need to make an informed decision for your practice. Attending the workshop and deciding NFTs are not for you is a wonderful and legitimate outcome!
That being said, I started the workshops last November and it’s been totally inspiring to see some of the artists who have come through find success in the space. I am of course not taking credit for this nor am I guaranteeing this will happen to you without the hard work these two ladies have put in, but it is exciting nonetheless! Quickly highlighting a couple here, I’m sure they’d love your follows and your support.
Sylvie Vo (@StudioSYLVO)
Sylvie is a Bay Area based artist with a delightful collection called, “Daily Practice 2022.” Prior/outside of NFTs, she spends her time doing freelance design and running her own design shop which focuses primarily on paper and soft goods via her website.
She is releasing a watercolor a day for the entire year and is approaching 50 collectors. From her collection page: “A living, breathing collection. A daily microdose of creativity. Inviting more Play into my life by treating it like Work (by applying discipline and fake deadlines). I'm attempting to create one piece of art per day for... a week? a month? a year? We'll see. I'm mostly doing this for me, but I hope it's fun for you too. And I can't think of a more literal way to show "The Process" of being a working and developing artist exploring the metaverse.”
Klea McKenna (@klea_mckenna)
Klea is an artist working with experimental photography, writing, and film with much of her work focused on the natural world & motherhood. Prior to entering the NFT space, her work had been collected by SFMOMA, LACMA, Getty, V&A. She is a great example of an artist with a more ‘traditional’ gallery/museum-based career who has been able to expand her approach and audience via the NFT space.
In the NFT space, she has partnered with photography-focused platform Quantum Art and sells her work on Foundation. The above piece is from her collection, “How Forests Think” minted a few months ago on Foundation but created years ago as part of traditional practice.
As always, I welcome your notes and wish you well. Until next time! 💖 See you on the interwebs or on the astral plane ✨
