Now on view in SF: VITALITY I & II at Chase Center; Two pieces on exhibition in LA
NYC, save the date for archive sale on 9/28 👀
Greetings friends! ✨
I am so excited to announce that my paintings VITALITY I and VITALITY II are now on view and permanently installed at Dumpling Time, a restaurant in San Francisco’s Chase Center promenade.
For those of you unfamiliar, Chase Center is the $1.4B (!) stadium built by my hometown the Golden State Warriors. With over 200 events a year, it is one of largest cultural hubs in San Francisco - and home to one of my favorite artists, Olafur Elaisson’s, first permanent installation on the West Coast. Dumpling Time is part of the Michelin-star Omakase SF restaurant group and occupies a very public location right in the Chase Center promenade. Humbling, to say the least!
A few months ago I had the opportunity to propose work for Dumpling Time’s private dining room, and after receiving the commission - my first commercial commission and largest to date - spent the better part of this summer working on four massive, 4’ x 4’ panels, quite literally transforming my living room in Joshua Tree to accommodate the canvases.
I am so thrilled to finally share the final work with you and for the work to be installed permanently at a place so dear to me. As many of you know, I started my art career less than a few blocks away, in the kitchen of my Mission Bay apartment. I spent many of the first months of COVID painting alone and eating takeout from Dumpling Time; the significance of having my work hung there, less than two years later, is not lost on me. ❤️
The room is bookable for private events and the work is viewable from street level via the room’s floor-length windows. If you are in the area, please pop in and see the work, share a nice word with the restaurant, and tag me on social! I’d love to hear what you think!
A metaversal preview: Of course, the work will also be available as a new NFT collection and launched digitally in partnership with MoNA gallery, a new online gallery launching this month. For the collector preview, please message me directly!
About Los Angeles…
With so much going on, I forgot to announce that two of my pieces are on exhibition as part of a TMFA community show in Los Angeles!
WINDSTORM is on exhibition at The Artist Tree West Hollywood through November. The painting is for sale on location and 100% of proceeds go to the artist. You can read more about the painting here. If you’re in LA, please go see it in person!
RISING is on exhibition at The Artist Tree Koreatown. RISING is a very special piece depicting eight rising phoenixes and was painted immediately after the Atlanta shootings earlier this year. 88% of this sale will be donated by me to The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) to support their efforts for equality and visibility. You can read more about the painting here.
If you are not in LA and interested in purchasing either painting, please reach out and we will make it happen! ✨
New York 👀 and other news…
NYC! Save the date for my first Archive Sale and on Tuesday 9/28. I’ll be hosting an in-person sale of old works on paper as well as teaching a Figure Drawing class that evening with Happy Medium. Details to follow this week!
In other news… I took a very inspiring trip to Costa Rica earlier this summer and left with a whole host of paintings in my head, still waiting to be articulated onto canvas. August flew by and most of my focus was on the VITALITY pieces (VITALITY II - below - absorbed some of those pura vida vibes for sure ✨).
Looking towards the fall, I hope to release one more painting collection and have most of the rest of my time spoken for with upcoming commissions, as well as my ongoing explorations in NFTs and Web3 - most notably, my collection of desert minis, ‘daily’ 1/1 watercolors chronicling my first year in the desert.
I always aspire to write more, especially on the intersection of art and the internet, but alas, slow living demands just that. 😉 You can keep up with my thoughts on NFTs via Twitter, my new work via Instagram and occasionally I’ll have more words for your inbox.
If you’d like to work together on something, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly or fill out my commission form!
Much love from the desert,
Amac
